The Quest

John Henry Patterson Statue - Kettering, Ohio - January 2008

"If you are brave enough to leave behind everything
familiar and comforting
(which can be anything from your house
to your bitter old resentments)
and set out on a truth-seeking journey
(either externally or internally),
and if you are truly willing to regard
everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue,
and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher,
and if you are prepared – most of all – to face (and forgive)
some very difficult realities about yourself….
then truth will not be withheld from you.”

~Elizabeth Gilbert in Eat, Pray, Love

This book is everywhere right now, including on my night-table. Thanks for the reminder.

A powerful excerpt from Gilbert's book! The essence of life ...

One of my favorite quotes. I printed it out, and then cut and pasted it onto the back of a few postcards I use for book marks. Yes, the quest, the journey makes all the difference. Indeed.

We could all use a little of your truths and reality. Interesting blog.
